Train to Teach Event - March 2018

Posted: 1st March 2018

For a day in March 2018, Ashmole Academy opened its doors to 20 visitors hoping to enter into the teaching profession. Ashmole was chosen as one of four schools across London to host an open day on behalf of the government as part of the ‘Train to Teach’ campaign.

During the day our eager visitors had the opportunity to meet with subject staff to discuss the curriculum of the subject they would like to teach, observe lessons across the school and take a school tour.

Ashmole Academy has acted as a lead school delivering the School Direct Initial Teacher Training route for six years. The route has proved to be very successful and is now the main source of the school’s new teachers. We were proud to be able to showcase our provision as part of the campaign and we look forward to some of the days attendee’s application to our programme.

The feedback from the day was extremely positive and it was fantastic to hear that the highlight for many of the visitors was getting to meet some of our students. The students who helped during the day, acting as guides, were praised by all. They were professional and attentive throughout the day and we were incredibly proud of their efforts. It was due to their contributions that the day ran so wonderfully smoothly.
